Compassionate Support for Life's Emotional Challenges

At Rediscover Hope Counseling and Wellness, I support individuals navigating a wide range of emotional, mental, and life challenges. Therapy is a collaborative and personalized process designed to meet you where you are, honor your lived experiences, and support meaningful healing and growth.

Whether you are seeking clarity, relief, or deeper self-understanding, counseling provides a safe and supportive space to explore challenges, build resilience, and reconnect with hope and purpose.

Areas of Focus

I help individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including:

  • ADHD Assessments & Support for Neurodivergent Individuals

Neurodivergent individuals often experience the world in unique and meaningful ways. I provide a comprehensive ADHD assessment with a diagnostic report for adolescents and adults, along with affirming support that focuses on understanding how neurodivergent brains function beautifully and differently.

Counseling may include assessment, psycho-education, skill-building, emotional regulation strategies, and support with relationships, work, or daily functioning. The goal is empowerment, self-acceptance, and practical tools to support your strengths and needs.

  • Anxiety and Mood Disorders

Anxiety, panic, and mood disorders can impact daily life, relationships, and overall well-being. You may feel overwhelmed, restless, irritable, or emotionally stuck, experiencing constant negative thoughts, often without fully understanding why.

Therapy focuses on identifying contributing factors, developing coping strategies, and strengthening emotional regulation. Together, we work toward increased clarity, balance, and a greater sense of calm and stability

  • Depression and Suicidal Ideation

Everyone feels sad or low sometimes, but these feelings usually pass. Depression or clinical depression is different. It can cause severe symptoms that affect how a person feels, thinks, and handles daily activities, such as sleeping, eating, or working.

Depression can affect anyone regardless of age, sex, race or ethnicity, income, culture, or education.

There are two forms of suicidal ideation. These can look and feel different for each person who experiences it.

    • Passive suicidal ideation: Suicidal thoughts occur without any desire to make a plan of action to harm yourself.
    • Active suicidal ideation: Suicidal thoughts motivate you to create an action plan of self-harm. When a plan is in place, you may feel at ease or withdrawn.

In therapy it is a safe, supportive environment for clients to work with a therapist on creating a safety plan that identifies warning signs, triggers, and coping strategies that a client can use before a crisis to redirect their mind, practice self-care, utilize distractions, implement sensory tools, utilize support networks, and better understand ways to reset their nervous system.

  • Trauma

Trauma is a deeply distressing or disturbing experience that impacts individuals physically, emotionally, and mentally that can affect how you think, feel, relate to others, and experience your body. Whether trauma is recent or from the past, its effects can linger, cause you to become stuck or negatively interfere with daily life and relationships.

I provide trauma-informed counseling that prioritizes safety, trust, and empowerment. Therapy focuses on processing experiences safely, reducing distress, and restoring a sense of control, resilience, and emotional balance.

  • Grief and Loss

Grief is a deeply personal experience that can arise from many types of loss, including death, relationship changes, health challenges, or life transitions. There is no “right” way to grieve. The grief and loss process has different stages of grief that include: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.

Therapy offers a supportive space to process emotions, honor your experience, and navigate the complexities of loss. Together, we work toward healing, meaning-making, and gentle reconnection with life.

  • Chronic Pain

Chronic pain can last months or years and affects both the body and the mind, often leading to emotional distress, frustration, and fatigue. Pain is your body’s way of telling you that something’s wrong, like an alarm. But when that alarm continues to go off for months or years, it can drown out many aspects of life that bring you joy. And it can take quite a toll on your physical, mental and emotional health. Because of this, it’s essential to seek help for chronic pain.

Counseling supports coping strategies, stress reduction, and mind-body awareness to help reduce emotional suffering and improve quality of life. Therapy focuses on empowerment, hope, creating a valued quality of life, as well as developing tools to support both physical and emotional well-being.

  • Chronic Mental Illness

Chronic illnesses are often complex. When someone is diagnosed with a chronic illness, a lot may change. Depending on the diagnosis and how severe it is, you may experience changes in your lifestyle, level of physical functioning, and even find that your role in your family and community changes, too. Living with chronic mental health conditions can feel exhausting and isolating. Managing symptoms, treatment options, and changes in functioning may cause significant stress. You may experience ongoing symptoms, grief, overwhelm, or challenges with stability and self-compassion.

Therapy provides consistent support, skill-building, and psycho-education to help you manage symptoms, strengthen resilience, and improve daily functioning. The focus is on long-term support, understanding, and sustainable growth.

  • Stress Management and Coping Skills

Everyone experiences occasional stress; it is a normal part of life. Long-term stress can lead to worsening health problems. Stress can accumulate over time, impacting sleep, mood, relationships, and physical health. Many people feel overwhelmed by responsibilities, expectations, or life demands. Managing stress daily can prevent you from developing long-term stress.

Counseling helps identify stressors, strengthen coping skills, and support nervous system regulation. Together, we work toward healthier boundaries, balance, and tools that promote emotional well-being and resilience.

  • Life Transitions

Life transitions are a significant change in a person’s life circumstances or status —whether expected or unexpected—can bring uncertainty, stress, and emotional overwhelm. Changes in relationships, careers, family roles, or identity can disrupt your sense of stability.

Therapy provides a space to process transitions, learn and develop new skills adn ways to reframe your negative patterns of thought or behaviors, growth, self-discovery, and move forward with intention. Counseling supports adaptability, self-awareness, and confidence during times of change.

  • Relationship Dynamics

Relationships play a central foundational role in emotional health as well as communication styles and patterns from childhood.

  • Attachment Styles and Codependency

Explore the complex dynamics of roles within the family, poor boundaries, codependency and attachment styles, their causes, effects, and strategies for healthier relationships.

  • Self-Esteem

Low self-esteem creates a self-perpetuating cycle of painful emotions. Low self-esteem can impact how you view yourself, your worth, and your place in the world. Some individuals may engage in self-harm as a way to cope with overwhelming emotions.

Therapy offers a safe and supportive environment to explore underlying pain, build self-compassion, and develop healthier coping strategies. Counseling focuses on safety, emotional regulation, and strengthening a sense of self-worth.

  • Women’s Issues

Women often face unique challenges related to identity, relationships, caregiving roles, changes in seasons, hormonal changes, trauma, and societal expectations. These experiences can impact mental health across the lifespan.

Therapy provides a supportive space to explore these challenges, strengthen boundaries, and reconnect with personal values and goals. Counseling focuses on empowerment, healing, and self-discovery.

  • Spirituality

Spirituality or faith can be an important part of identity, strength, healing, and meaning-making. A client’s faith, traditions, cultural beliefs, or spirituality. Fundamental source of strength, beliefs, values, exploration, and hope.

When desired, therapy can incorporate spiritual exploration in a respectful, client-led way. This approach honors your beliefs while supporting emotional wellness, growth, and alignment with your values.

  • Self-Harm

Self-harm, also known as self-injury or self-mutilation, refers to the deliberate infliction of physical harm on oneself. It’s often a coping mechanism for dealing with emotional pain, intense anger, or frustration. While it may provide temporary relief, it’s ultimately harmful and can lead to severe consequences.

Emotional self-harm refers to negative thoughts that damage someone’s self-esteem and mental health. This can manifest in overly critical self-talk or ruminating on past mistakes.

In addition to working with adults 18+, I work with teens 15-18 years of age.
